Answers

How do I place an Order?

You can order by sending an e-mail (see Contact page for e-mail address) with the items (and relevant details).
You will be contacted to confirm your order, method of payment, and pick-up/shipment.

How do you protect my personal information?

For online payments, your credit card number is never collected. You will be sent a PayPal invoice to your e-mail, which contains a link letting you pay for your order online. It is done on PayPal's secure site.

The major benefit of PayPal payments is that your credit card number is never released to the retailer, so you can be sure there will be no fraudulent charges. PayPal is the world's largest online payment service.

Are these rackets the same as the ones found in Games Stores like FG Bradley's?

Often the rackets you find in other stores are pre-made rackets meant for recreational players. Their prices often range from $15 to $100 just for premade rackets, ranging from slow and no-spin to medium and little-spin. The LKT LoopSonic that I carry will likely have more spin than the $100 models found in other stores.

On the grand scale including competitive rackets, the premades in other stores will have a Spin rating between 10/100 to 20/100, the LoopSonic is a 30/100, and competition rackets are generally 65/100 to 100/100.

Premade rackets are good for recreational players and beginners. If you want to play competitively, you'll want to start with a lower-end competition racket starting around $40.

Can I try the equipment before I buy?

Unfortunately you cannot try any of the equipment before you buy. If you contact me I can recommend different equipment suited to your skill level, playing style, and price range. Hopefully the advice, as well as information on the website, will give you enough knowledge to make an informed decision.

PPGEAR is a Better Business Bureau (BBB) Accredited Business and will work hard to give the best advice and customer service to protect its reputation.

For tables, you can see the Sportivo BR table at the Dixie Table Tennis Club in Mississauga. Visit the club during their open hours and have a look. Arthur will be there as well to answer any questions.

What is your Return Policy?

You can return any unopened AND unused equipment for a full refund of the purchase price (shipping charges not refunded). This does not apply to tables, but there is a 1-Year Warranty on all tables. Any custom-assembled rackets are non-refundable as the rubbers have already been cut. Only items in original packaging can be returned.

You must return the equipment in-person, or pay the shipping charges to return it. After the returned goods are received, you will be issued a refund for the returned items. If you ship the items but they are lost in the mail, you will not be refunded. To be safe you should ship items with a trackable method (like Canada Post Expedited Parcel) which is also insured in case the package is lost.

Do you assemble the rackets?

Racket assembly is FREE for equipment you buy from PPGEAR.

If you purchase equipment from another retailer and would like it professionally assembled for you, this service costs $3 per rubber sheet (so a racket with 2 rubber sheets would cost $6). This fee is the same for gluing rubber topsheets to sponges.

Does the colour of the rubber matter? (Red vs. Black, Forehand vs. Backhand)

If you get two rubbers, one must be Red and the other Black. But it doesn't matter which side is Red or Black. The majority usually prefer Red on the forehand side, but it really doesn't matter.

NOTE: It is common that for any given rubber model, the Black rubber is often slightly tackier, but not by much. If you don't play competitively, you probably won't notice the difference. This is caused by the pigments used in Black rubbers.

Do I have to pay taxes?

All purchases will have 5% GST added on, and Ontario residents must pay an additional 8% PST (total 13%).

If you pay cash, you still have to pay taxes.

Is there a warranty on equipment?

There is a 30-day Warranty on blades, rubbers and premade rackets. This covers manufacturers defects (like tears and major initial damage that affects play) and breakage from normal use such as proper play and cleaning.

Normal use does not include reckless care of equipment such as hitting the racket on any hard objects or surfaces (such as the table), or not regularly cleaning rubber sheets.

There is a 1-Year Warranty on all ping pong tables.

What happens if my package gets lost?

If your order gets lost in the mail, you will be sent a new order, free of charge. Orders are tracked and sent via Canada Post Expedited Parcel.

For some International orders (outside Canada), orders may be sent using a non-tracked method to lower the cost. As the customer you will be given several options and their prices, and can choose an uninsured, untracked method, but such packages will not be replaced/re-sent if lost, so choose this at your own risk.

What colours do the rubber sheets come in?

Rubber sheets come in Red and Black. A proper racket has one Red and one Black side. It is illegal (in sanctioned tournaments) to play with two Red sides, or two Black sides.
